BS...if this was going on with you at your job, chances are you would be fired before you got your day in court. Image is everything.

oh absolutely. and this has been proven time and time again with the NFL. there is no need to wait for the courts to sort it out. they could suspend peterson today indefinitely if they wanted to.

I also love the standard by which the players are held. Just the appearance of impropriety and you get nailed (ben Roethlisberger)

wasn't big bens thing a he said she said type situation? isn't that a bit different than say ray rice and AP where there's evidence?

No. That is the opposite of what should be done. They should have done something immediately. The dude left scars on his sons balls and arse from beating him so bad with a switch. Now the NFL looks like they approve of the abuse of women and children.

there's just no justification for what he did. he didn't spank his kid to discipline him, he beat him with belts and switches and the result was broken skin and scars. that is abuse.

Spielman said the team has been gathering information about the case, but what makes the Peterson case different from most other criminal cases is that there are few if any facts in dispute:

Peterson has already admitted that he hit his son and inflicted those “disturbing” injuries.

The Vikings know what Peterson did, and are choosing to play him anyway.

That's a nice sentiment. Maybe Goodell can get in his time machine, and go back to 2007 and not suspend Pacman Jones, or Michael Vick, or any number of the players suspended before the courts decide.

I have no problem with the NFL handing down suspensions once a player has been formally charged. What should happen, is they should be suspended indefinitely with pay.

But that won't happen because what owner wants to pay millions to a guy who isn't available. And the courts take too long. Greg Hardy's appeal probably won't be heard until after the season. Same with Peterson's trial.

and yet Adrian Peterson will play...damn I love me some inconsistency.

Adrian Peterson was a gift from above for Roger Dodger and the owners, and to lift from saints22, they've misread the room again

they do

they went out of their way to make sure Gordon got 16 games with a sample that didn't meet the threshold.

if not for the video and the public outcry

ray rice would not be activated right now
Greg Hardy would've played last sunday
Adrian Peterson would've played last sunday

16 games for weed, why didn't they pursue the same for something far worse?

Are there seriously people in this thread who can't understand the difference between a spanking and whipping someone's head or inner thigh?

Fwiw, the Patriots investigated right when the news broke and found enough inconsistencies to fire his butt.
