I updated my post on the previous page with the revised starting grid.
Graham could really use a win, although I don't know that he can beat Lundgaard, who really loves this track.
Graham reached his career peak during the high-downforce manufacturer aero kit era, with several race wins. His last win was in 2017, the last year of high downforce before they went back to the standard aero kit. He went from thriving to struggling. From 2018 to 2021 his teammate was Takuma Sato, who won four races, including the Indy 500 for Team Rahal. And now Lundgaard has a win. Graham could really use a win. The End.

OMG even Alex Palou's management is tired of his antics, dropping him as a client.
racer.com/2023/08/12/palou-splits-with-management-team/
Edit: Now I'm reading that MIM announced that they dropped Palou after he stopped taking their calls. Looks like they're the ones who got dumped. Former IRL driver Roger Yasukawa is back to being Palou's manager. Roger brought Palou from Super Formula in Japan to IndyCar with Dale Coyne, and later made the deal to move Palou to Ganassi.

"Monaco Increase Management is bitterly disappointed to learn about Alex Palou’s decision to break an existing agreement with McLaren for 2024 and beyond,” the company wrote. “Together, we had built a relationship that we thought went beyond any contractual obligation and culminated in winning the 2021 IndyCar crown and tracing a path to F1 opportunities."

Well, they may be saving face because it sounds like Mclaren gave Palou money and there was no actual contract. Just an agreement.

Yeah it's been clear that Palou was under contract with Ganassi and was prohibited from making deals with other teams until September 1. McLaren is whining about some sort of verbal understanding they apparently had, which is hilarious. It's just slander if they're talking about something that isn't in writing.
So while I think Palou was making verbal deals he shouldn't have, McLaren whining about it publicly is a bitch move.
Zak tried to lure Palou to the McLaren IndyCar team using an F1 seat as a carrot. Last year Palou was naïve, now he's wise.

Wow, what a first lap. DeFrancesco is now a superstar apparently, Newgarden is screwed. Grosjean being Grosjean.
Early pits to switch tires, now we're going to see a lot of alternate strategies. This makes the race more interesting and hard to predict.
Plus DeFrancesco is legitimately leading the race.

Dixon leading with 15 to go

I knew when Dixon pit early that he was going to finesse his way to the front, but looks like he doesn't have enough fuel to fight Graham.

Going to be quite a end. If they let us watch it.

This is tense. Great ending.

Dixon is the fricking master.

Killed it. What a finish, but Dixon seemed to have it under control the whole time. Saved right up until he needed to.

I've always remembered this quote from Alain Prost:
Dixon only went just as fast as he needed to, to win the race.
quote:
"I always say that my ideal is to get pole with the minimum effort, and to win the race at the slowest speed possible."
Dixon only went just as fast as he needed to, to win the race.

That was an awesome race! I was hoping Rahal could catch him. He got a little wide at a late turn on 83rd lap, and that’s what did it. Amazing race by Dixon to spin on the first lap but still win!
It stinks for Newgarden. There was nothing he could do to avoid that crash.
I was glad to see Herta finish P13 despite the flat on the first lap and what felt like 4-5 pit stops.

Latest Developments
Jack Harvey has been fired from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. After a strong run at Meyer Shank, Harvey thought he was moving up in the world when he signed with RLL. But he has stunk it up every since he arrived. As the struggling RLL team showed great improvement in form recently with Lundgaard winning a race and Graham finishing a strong P2 last weekend, Harvey did not improve along with the rest of the team. Conor Daly will drive the #30 RLL car at the Gateway short oval. RLL will probably audition other drivers at Portland and Laguna Seca. Juri Vips and Toby Sowery have been mentioned as candidates. Both have tested with RLL.
As previously reported, Hélio Castroneves will retire from full-time IndyCar racing next year (focusing on just the Indy 500), as he joins Meyer Shank as a minority owner. Meyer Shank IMSA racer Tom Blomqvist will replace Hélio as full-time driver.
