1st Place STL Cardinals essentially fielding a minor league team

The St. Louis Cardinals are missing starting players in Adam Wainwright (P), Matt Adams (1B), Matt Holliday (LF), Randal Grichuk (RF), Jon Jay (CF), and Jordan Walden (P).
In their place inexperienced players such as Greg Garcia (called up April 2014), Tommy Pham (called up Sept 2014), and Stephen Piscotty (called up July 2015) as well as average to below average players such as Mark Reynolds, Peter Bourjos, Brandon Moss, and Pete Kozma are filling the void and continuing to win.
The best team in baseball is essentially fielding the equivalent of a minor league team and still putting on a clinic.
How do the Cardinals do it?
Perhaps a winning culture coupled with very high fan expectations?

The Cubs would be leading any other division in baseball except the AL Central and yet they're in third in the NL Central. What a strong division this year.

They haven't been playing though. Therefore, my "inexperienced" comment is accurate.

I feel the same way about the Cardinals as the Dude does about the Eagles.

I guess you missed the word "essentially" in the thread title. Doh

Like the Cardinals essentially won the Series the past 3 years.

You are doing a fantastic job perpetuating the stereotype that Cardinals fans some of sports' biggest douchebags. Keep up the good work

Thanks for restoring my faith in how terrible Cardinal fans are.
I was beginning to soften up.
