That blocking foul on NE was complete and utter bullshite. Flipped the game bigtime as well.

in situations like that, I think the referee's will call blocking fouls unless the contact is flush center of the body. Any shoulder or hip contact is going to be a block even is the player has been there for several seconds and not moving.

If you're talking about that last call, I think it was technically correct. Once the offensive player starts to gather themselves for a shot, a defensive player can no longer slide in. Though refs have stopped calling it consistently, and are letting guys slide in when the offensive player is leaving his feet.

no not the latest one. we were talking about the one before that. Should have been called a charge. Guy wasn't moving, in place, but the contact was hip/shoulder instead of center mass.

I agree. I'm just saying that many refs have slid back into calling it the old way, where a defender can slide in after an offensive player has gone into a shooting motion. Which they shouldn't be doing.

I think alot of referee's are afraid to call charging fouls. So the safe call is most often blocking.
