I will admit that I don't know enough about annuities to really discuss it. I would assume that it could work in a similar fashion because the product is basically a repackaged insurance policy. However, it doesn't offer the death benefit from what I can tell. I would have to defer that to someone that knows more about how the products work.

Life Insurance's main priority is to pay funds during death. Annuities are designed to pay funds during one's life as it's primary function in most cases.
