How does one go about acquiring machines for a small, family owned business?
My in-laws own a small restaurant and while discussing how they can increase sales, I suggested they should put a couple machines in there. I know of several hole in the wall places that have them and there's never an empty seat in front of them.

I think their biggest issue would be that they lease the location. It's in a strip mall. I told them to check the stipulations first.

Looks like video gaming isn't allowed in Ascension parish. That sucks because most of their business comes from the lunch crowd in the surrounding plants

My SIL does licensing for Video Poker. Shes told me before that 3 machines bring in an average of $80,000 a year. That's an average of a busy bar to a fried chicken joint. I'll text her later to find out about Ascension Parish.

Lucky's website, linked above, indicates that VP is not allowed in Ascension.

If VP is allowed in the parish, you must also have an alcohol license and put the machines in an area where people only 21 and up are allowed. For some, that is the whole bar. For restaurants where kids are allowed, they often section off a room.

I bet that any business that is eligible to have them soon gets a call or visit from one of the machine companies.

VP and alcohol sales are a good business to be in, when people are broke they gamble and drink, when people have money they gamble and drink more. She has told me that business slowed down a little this year.

I'm pretty sure this is the case. But you can drive 10 minutes and play in a "casino". Really weird stipulations from parish to parish
