buy something new for under 20K, pay it off in 4 years, use your 10-12K worth of trade in value and get something for 30-35K.

Bought my 12 elantra for 18,500 after tax tag & title. itle be paid off in 4 months and has under 40K. trading in and upgrading to Murano/extera/CRV/some other SUV and payment will prob still be at or under $200 after all is said and done.

Vehicles are a terrible investment, unless you turn them into a good investment. Turn less into more.

One of our cars is a 2013 Accord. It's a great vehicle and gets excellent fuel economy. We've put around 45,000 miles on it so far, and we'll likely keep it for at least a other 100,000 miles.

No, no, and no

Also, what does the factory warranty go up to? It should be higher than 40k miles. If so, you are buying "up to" 100k, not an "additional" 100k

I haven't read thru thread. You need to summon coach guidry if he has not shown up yet.

He'll, I think he sells Honda

I may splurge a little and get the EX-L which comes with leather seats and and a V6.

Life is short. Live a little and enjoy some benefits of your labor. Is the extra $100 bucks a month a deal breaker?

Vehicles are not an investment period (with very very very minor exceptions. none of which you listed as your options). Let's do some math:

You bought a 2012 Elantra for $18,500 financed (assuming here) that you'll have paid off in approximately 4 years. SO $400 a month, $530 if you paid it off in 3.

Now you want to trade that car in for at most $12k and buy something for $30k (using the most favorable numbers for you). that will leave you with $18k more to finance plus TTL, so let's call it an even $20k. Now you're going to need to pay $430 for 4 years or $570 for 3 years.

Time to review. Using 3 year terms for each, you have paid $530/month for years 1-3 and then $570/month years 4-6. You've paid a total of $39,600 to get to your next $30k vehicle.

Using 4 year terms for each, you have paid $400/month years 1-4 and $430/month years 5-8. You've then paid a total of $39,840 for your $30k vehicle.

Had you just bought the $30k vehicle in the first place, with TTL you'd be looking at around $33k financed, which would cost you $34,320 over 4 years or $34,020 over 3 years. Even if you stretched the term to 6 years to match the two 3 year terms, you're at $486/month and a total cost of $34,995.

So best case scenario, your "good investment" cost you $5k.

Yeah I'm basically getting about a 3 year warranty after looking into it.

And after sleeping on it I don't like my deal. I'm going to shoot for lower.

Metallic Steel. It's a fantastic car and I love it. You really can't go wrong on whatever you decide Accord wise. Much like you, I wanted the sport package for the wheels, dual exhaust, spoiler, etc., but couldn't pass up on all the internal goodies. I did go with the EL-X 4-cylinder though.

Have to give props to Coach Guidry as well. As a young guy buying his first new car, he helped me throughout the process via text and email when he didn't have to.

If you don't mind asking, what do you think about the current deal I have in front of me in the OP update?

Agree with this as well. I bought my vehicle September 29th of last year and was able to get over $3,500 off sticker.

I think you should buy from coach g if possible. I see him helping people out on here all the time. If he does not have what you want I bought my Honda from economy Honda in Chattanooga a few years back and it was a pleasant deal. They have a new 15 accord sport for 20491 and if you are a college grad price is 19991 plus 0.9 financing for 60 months. I have nothing to gain by you using them just trying to help out.

Appreciate that Sir

College Grad program is 500 down payment...so if they're showing that as a discount...beware.

Also, the 20491.00 is most likely without destination...which is 820.00.

That puts it at 21,311.00. Not un heard of by any means, they are just really taking a lick on it.

My guess is the price is "without dealer installed options" and they could try and put another 6-700 on that.

Also...make sure it wasant a demo.

I just got an offer from another dealership, same car but 2014 with 30k miles on it for $18,900.

That a better deal?

Oh no, 22k selling price meaning without TTL. It could maybe get to 21.5k.
