Unauthorized La Dept of Revenue Bank Withdrawal

Anyone else have this happen to them this morning? I went to check my bank account and it turns out the La DOR (or someone posing as them) withdrew the amount of taxes I owed them this year. Thing is, I've already paid my taxes to them this year, from a separate account. I'm just hoping this is a Louisiana frick up and not a hacker.

Is that the account you have used in the past to deposits refunds or have them withdrawal tax due in the past?
I NEVER advise allowing the IRS or LDR the right to autowithdrawal tax due. That's so crazy. What if the computer transposes a number or adds a zero? Then you're fighting with them to get your money back.
Is the amount withdrawn actual tax due? When did you file? How did you pay the first time?

Yes, in the past it was the account that I allowed the IRS to deposit my refund. I have never allowed them to withdraw though. This is the first time I have owed, and I paid by check from a totally different account. The amount withdrawn (the second time) from this other account is the exact amount owed (and paid). I paid it before April 15 by mailing a check, from a different account, that was cashed some time ago. It's bizarre.
And I'm sure getting in touch with the DOR on Monday to correct this will be a breeze...

I hope your last sentence was sarcastic!
If you filed via turbotax it was probably a mistake made with accidentally checking a box.

I would call your bank and report it as fraud

Very sarcastic! I'm on mobile and couldn't find the eye roll guy. Anyway, my CPA filed my taxes, and I hope she's not the cause of this, bc I like her.
And I did report it to my bank as an unauthorized charge. Unfortunately, the amount was so big it caused my account to overdraw and the bank won't replace the money until next week. Maybe Monday? I can't remember what she said. Thank goodness I have money in other accounts. Otherwise I'd be fricked.

Didn't have that, but did finally get my state refund (return filed a month ago). I guess they were waiting for everyone to pay what they owed.

I got a refund of $29. I told them to keep it and apply towards any taxes I may owe next year.
They sent me a check for $29
