On turbotax I enter my W2 info and that all works but when I enter my 1099misc income it does not recognize it.

The income is 8800 but it does not factor it into my income. Anyone know why?

Which version of TurboTax are you using? If it's the basic version, I'm not sure it handles 1099-misc income. You may have to upgrade to the Deluxe version.

A 1099 misc is a pretty common and simple form; basic should be able to handle it. At least that's what the TT website says (click forms tab below).

I would send an email to TT help desk and see if this is a common issue. In my experience they usually roll out a couple of software patches during February and March.

Are you sure you're not thinking of a 1099-div or 1099-int? Isn't a 1099-Misc usually for contractors or self employed and that income goes on a Schedule C?

Well, all I can say is in my line of work 1099 misc is pretty common. I guess I shouldn't assume that's true for everyone.

Just my $.02 but a good CPA will do much better for you than Turbo Tax. Mine saved me about $4k last year and only charged $240.
