We need a good 8-10 percent correction

We "corrected" 10% or so in January.

Well if I recall, the Nasdaq is already 5% off its highs of the year.

Unfortunately a correction is going to be a lot more than 10%. I'm also tired of this term "correction".

It's to avoid saying "crash".

You probably have more than 30 years

Whenever I see the word "correction" I assume the speaker's analysis is about as complicated as thinking "what goes up must come down!" Like, the market has gone up for __ months, so now it is supposed to go down for __ months. About as scientific as saying a player is "due" for a hit.

Actually, I was being conservative with 30. I'm well ahead of most 27 year olds. Nothing to write home about. But we live well below our means and I've already been able to pay off all student loans and a car. We're also well above 100k net worth and might hit 200k by 30. And when I retire I don't plan to completely stop working even though I may not need to.

I've got 30yrs left to retirement and I know there will be tons of "Corrections"... I'm in long term and a dip or run up isn't going to stop me from putting $$$ in.

Seems like a good time to bump the prediction thread.

We're still in a sideways market until $DIA drops below 157. Ain't there yet. So it's premature to call "a correction"
Nasdaq is closer. QQQ needs to go below 84 for it to be outside of a sideways market.

Dow dropped roughly 7%
Nasdaq 5-6%
S&P 5-6%
thought i would clarify that you were right-ish. i remembered the hiccup being bigger (probably due to the spec stocks i play)
