So if I sell stock do I have a certain amount of days to reinvest proceeds so that I wont have to pay taxes on it or is that just in regards to IRA holdings?

If you have a profit from a stock sale in a taxable account then you have a taxable gain, either long term or short term depending of whether you held the stock for longer than one year or shorter than one year.

Reinvesting the proceeds from the sale is irrelevant as to your taxable gain.

Yes.

No.

If you sell a stock holding in an IRA or 401(k) it is tax deferred, meaning you don't owe taxes on the gain from the sale.
