I recently came across an idea of medical devices that haven't been created/ introduced to main stream market.
How important is it to get patented before seeing a VC and what should I do before meeting with a VC?
How do I approach professionals in this field about getting research to see if this device will work?

Have you done any research to see if there are devices like yours on the market?
Have you paid an IP lawyer to check to see if there is a patent already covering your device? Just because it's not on the market doesn't mean someone hasn't patented it...
