I have a question regarding credit card purchases. My mother order some hand bags from a website that she thought was Michael Kors. After she told me the bags have not shown up yet I looked into the website, it was a Chinese scam website without a doubt. Can she dispute this charge? Does she have any insurance that covers online scams? She made the purchase in good faith and did not receive anything. Let me know if any of you have any thoughts. Thanks!

she should absolutely dispute the charge. every credit card that i'm aware of has fraud protection for situations like this. i imagine there will be no problem getting a refund.

It might be best if you go to her house and let her call the credit card company and give them permission to talk to you.

You need to explain the situation and also get a new account number for her. Scammers probably sell her information.

Follow up conversation with letter to cc company.

Update: I talked to the credit card company for my mother as suggested. Got a new credit card on the way and she is completely covered.

Thanks for the help

Don't be surprised if she ends up with the counterfeit bag as well.

Bought some jerseys off of one of those sites a few years ago. $20 for NFL jerseys with sewn on numbers and in this case the Saints Super Bowl patch.

After about a month, I did the same thing - reversed the charges. About six weeks later, I ended up with the jerseys. The site had been taken down, and I had no way to pay for the goods received.
