Raise your kids right and they'll perform to their potential, no matter which high school they go to. (assuming it isn't Istrouma High).

BR High is a lot like CHS/SJA in that those 3 schools get a lot of bright kids who are destined for success and were so before they enrolled at those high schools. BR High has a lot of LSU professor kids. I don't think the school can take credit for producing those Merit Scholars. Catholic is similar, but I do think Catholic develops character better than anyone. They don't get through to everyone, but the discipline, commitment, work ethic stay with most grads for life. We all probably agree that those traits are more critical for success than smarts. That's my 2 cents.

Honestly, this x10.

A high school education is what you make of it.

Nope.
If you take a kid with an IQ of 110 and put him in South Oak Cliff in Dallas...and then take his twin brother with an IQ of 110 and put him in St. Mark's School of Texas ..you will come out with totally different results.

The Zachary schools being #1 is misleading. Individually many other schools have a higher scores as far as ACT and state test scores than Zachary. Zachary schools have the highest average as far as K-12, but Mandeville and Dutchtown also scored higher as high schools. Zachary doesn't have Covington or Donaldsonville dragging the district down. That said Zachary is perfectly fine. I was paying tuition and moved out to the suburbs. I figured out over the life of my kids K-12 education I am saving around 180K in tuition. That's a second house. I am sorry but that's just ridiculous. So far I see very little difference in the education my kids are getting as far as quality. I am very familiar with what a good education looks like.
