Has anyone ever used Robert Half Finance and Accounting?

We have used them to place a few people. Mixed results, but then again, all headhunters are terrible.

I'll let you know how it goes. I have an interview with them tomorrow morning.

if you're in new orleans i could refer you to a local recruiting company that found me a job in baton rouge. i ended up turning it down because it wasn't really what i wanted and the pay was way lower than i was initially told, but i think that was just a miscommunication. the recruiters i talked to both seemed like really nice guys

You know I had pretty bad feelings towards headhunters because of how I thought they'd be and because of others experiences. But things were moving very slowly for me and I figured I'd give them a try. As an engineer, they have been very helpful. I don't know if it's different because of my profession but it really has been effective.

Oh, they can get the job done sometime. I haven't dealt with them a whole lot, but I'm privy to a lot of their activities.

I would have to say that I've been used by Robert Half several times over the past ten or so years...

I've done several higher level projects with large companies through a RHI referral. One example is American Express, where I've done three separate engagements. I've turned down more than I have taken, but they've been honest about the projects and the situations, so I respect and trust the local folks @ RHI.

Will you elaborate on this - for those of us who haven't been in the workforce that long. Thanks.

Headhunters in general - what are pros/cons of using their services? What types of shady practices do they engage in?

I have always used a more traditional networking approach to job hunting; however, several of these folks have contacted me. I am curious to know whether any of these folks are actually useful, or if I should steer clear of them.

Have you had any of the shady shite like when they'll send you an Excel sheet to fill out asking you for the names and contact info of your co-workers and also your superiors? They are just trying to populate their databases. I had a friend who took a low-level job at a big firm. Literally, his only job was to think up schemes and call up places to get info like that via guerilla campaigns.

Just realize they'll always blow smoke up your arse about how good you are, but it rarely means anything behind the scenes.
