I've had one of my credit cards open for almost 10 years, and the current credit limit is 11,000. The card has a zero balance and hasn't been used in over a year.

I see the option online of requesting an increase to the credit line. Currently my wife and I carry zero credit card debt, but would it be beneficial to try and increase the limit a few thousand?

I've heard that having a large amount of credit available is a good thing for a credit score, but since we already have a zero balance on this card which is not used (we use another card that we pay off monthly to get rewards), would it be pointless to request the increase?

I called today and got my Chase Amazon card raised from $2,000 to $4,000.

If you aren't using it I wouldn't bother. The effect on your score is minor at best.
