Insider Trading Concerns Raised After Report Shows Democrat Members of Congress Crushed the Stock Market in 2023

quote:

In the least surprising news you’ll read all day, a new report confirms that (mostly Democrat) members of Congress continued to outperform the stock market - a feat that the overwhelming majority of hedge funds fail to do.

SPY is a pretty aggressive benchmark for a bunch of geriatrics.

On the one hand, I'm 100% in favor of significant restrictions on trading behavior of politicians. With that said, it looks like Higgins, that giant blue bar at the top of the chart, is getting unfairly pilloried. As soon as I saw how much of an outlier he was, I wondered whether he held a small number of stocks that he held as opposed to actively trading. Looks like Nvidia, which he's held for years now, is what shot the moon for him: LINK

QQQ was up 55% last year. A bunch of Dems in liberal bastions are probably invested in many tech stocks. Is this supposed to be surprising information?

And, as the article states, republicans underperformed due to more exposure to O&G which had a bad year.

I bet the opposite results were true for 2022.

Also, these analyses are terrible because they only have to disclose buys and sales. No one is tracking the shite they’ve held for decades in these unusual whale tweets.
