Does anyone know how BASF in Geismar calculates overtime? Is it 1.5 times your rate only after 40 hours? Or do you get 1.5 times your rate after your 8 hours in a 12 hour shift even if you're under 40 for your total?

Should get 1.5X your rate after 8hrs. Operators are normally scheduled a 36hr work week and a 48hr work week if they are working 12hr shifts. There is built in OT everyday.

It's 12 hour rotating shifts. I didn't know if they were required to pay 1.5X after 8 hours in a day or does it depend on the company

That is the way our company does it. Also if you are SCHEDULED a 36hr work week and get called in for another day, the whole day is 1.5X....not just after 40hrs and not just after the first 8hrs.... The whole 12hrs is 1.5X.

I work at a different plant but am friends with a BASF operator in Geismer. I'll try to get a hold of him.
