Hope he feels good wasting his cash when he has to use it to buy points to get a good rate on his mortgage.

You're also throwing away free money. I always pay off my balance each month in my Rewards cards and Prob get 1000 bucks free cash annually. No yearly fees either

You can still get a mortgage via manual underwriting. On the car, I would feel great then since IMO cars should be paid for in cash.

No. Short sighted and silly. If a person has discipline with their spending credit is an excellent tool to have to use.
