I am considering purchasing a new Lexus GX. I have heard there is not a ton of negotiation room on price - especially these days.

I was curious if anyone on this board has experience with purchasing a new Lexus and if there is a certain time of year that a dealership may be more willing to negotiate.

Houston area, but willing to travel for a better deal.

Are you looking at the completely redesigned 2024 model? If so, good luck negotiating.

If the '23, the new model should give you a chance to get a better deal

The 2024 GX goes on sale in a couple months and is the first total redesign in forever for it.

If you want a 2023, your best time to buy one will be when that comes out and they are trying to liquidate the 2023's because it's a much older design that will be hard to sell next to the 2024 models...but you're already paying so much money for a GX I would just get the 2024 anyways which should be an absolutely massive improvement.

The current GX is on an archaically old design/platform (MY 2010).

I agree. If I have to pony up money for a new car, the last thing I want is last year's outgoing model. It will feel old in a few years and you will be wishing you spent the extra cash to get a '24.

Negotiating with Toyota/Lexus is not like negotiating with many other (domestic) mfgs. With that said, if ever there was a time for a good deal on a new GX, it’s coming soon. The better half had to have a 2022 GX. I like it much more than I thought I would.

Lexus and Toyota are pretty reliable so really can’t go wrong. I’ve read that the best years are to get year 3 of model or when they do a model refresh.

Go in the afternoon on the last day of the month. The dealerships are trying to hit their month end quota and will give the best deal then. Know your price and be prepared to walk away. They will call you back.

Be ready to walk and go to next dealer when they say you have to get certain add-on markups. The Lexus dealer in BR insists they’re mandatory. The New Orleans Lexus dealer does not.

You won’t have any negotiating power for the GX. Just make sure they aren’t wasting your time. They should respect that they can do most everything via email.

Avoid Price LeBlanc and stay in Houston. Price LeBlanc is an awesome Toyota dealer. But the Texas dealers are way better for Lexus. They can get the latest and greatest models and they seem to be better from a customer service perspective.

If Austin isn't too far, go see Joe at Lexus of North Austin. Bought the wife a new NX350H and it was a very easy process. Had to wait for the color she wanted but he kept us updated throughout the process and didn't pressure us at all on any warranties, add-ons or other BS.

Did Lexus of North Austin negotiate on price at all?

They didn't but they also didn't add any mark ups. Paid MSRP which I thought was fair compared to the many other dealerships we went to

Just build it on Lexus.com, you’re going to pay MSRP anyway, but you’ll be out of the dealership in under an hour after it gets delivered. My local dealer priced my trade in 90 days before I took new delivery from Ford, in my driveway, and offered to drop it off at my house when Ford delivered it to him.

I feel like Lexus has cut production on the GX the last year or two in preparation for the redesign. The GX got apple carplay in 2022. Lots of demand for the old school GX reliability with the slight tech refresh in 2022.

Pembroke Pines Lexus (Florida near Ft. Lauderdale) was the best online dealer back in the day. Not sure who deals these days since the pandemic

I can confirm the one in Baton Rouge isn’t the most honest. But I was fairly certain the one in New Orleans was the same owner.

Weird because the PL Toyota dealer in BR is solid.
