I am currently in the process of buying a new construction home from one of the local track builders. I am curious as to if anyone believes I should get a home inspection done for myself? I know an inspector has come in from the parish twice, is there a way to receive some sort of report from them or should I just hire my own? Curious as to if anyone has any experience with this. TIA

Do it. They will find stuff wrong.

I would definitely do it. Talk to your realtor. Typically you'll make an offer contingent upon satisfactory home inspection. Once the builder accepts the offer then you spend the $ on the inspection. Otherwise you pay for an inspection and when you approach the builder to fix any items and you'll buy the home he tells you to GTFO.

If you don't see the value of spending a couple hundred dollars on a purchase as large as a house for an inspector who works for YOU and only YOU, you should not be buying a house.

Codes inspectors and house inspectors are two entirely different animals.

Okay thats perfect thanks for the replies. I guess I kind of worded it incorrectly, I definitely see the value. I guess I was really trying to ask if the inspector that came through did pretty much the same thing. I didn't want to pay for something that had already been done.
