I'm looking to start a new business. I was wondering if it's a good or bad time to start one. I've inherited some money and looking in to making a career investment. Any business suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Don't open a business with the sole purpose of making money. Open a business because you will love what you will be doing. If you don't love it, it will fail, period.

Thanks! I was planning on opening a dirt pit. I love running excavators. I ran one for 2 yrs. I loved it!

There is no such thing as a "bad time to open a business" as long as you have a solid business plan, a market for your product and a vision for where you will take the business.
The bad news for you is that dirt pits are fairly easy to find. Most large civil companies find areas near their job site and lease the property to use the dirt for fill material. Make damn sure you know who will be buying your dirt and how much they will need.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
