I was looking at different business ideas that have a low barrier of entry/start-up capital amount, and I settled on an office cleaning business. Any things I need to consider going forward or relevant thoughts? I am really new to all of this, so any help would be appreciated.

I would imagine it's a low-margin, high-volume business. Need to develop an excellent network with various building managers? I also wonder whether insurance costs are significant - to cover injuries, damage to property and/or theft.

This wouldn't be a primary source of income for me, so I'm not looking at anything that's high volume. I'm interested in trying to get 20 accounts max. I'm not sure on the pricing structure yet, but I was thinking maybe $75 for an every other week cleaning, and incentivizing it to be only $50 if they opt for at least a once a week scheduled clean. That could gross me a maximum of $4k per month in revenue. I need to look into the insurance figures.

Are you going to do the cleaning yourself, or hire employees?

Definitely look into liability insurance.

A funny (or maybe not funny) story to share. I have a client that owns a franchise of a cleaning company. They clean several office buildings. One has a company with a CEO who kept a hidden security camera in his office. The CEO had a bowl of mints on his desk in a place on his desk where it would be obvious that they were offered to guests to his office.

So the cleaning guy one night while cleaning his office helps himself to a mint. The next day, the CEO reviewed footage (apparently he did this every day) and called up the cleaning company demanding that the cleaning guy be fired for theft.

I will be doing it myself. I figure 20 accounts max is all I can handle without having to hire an employee, and I'm not sure I want to go down that path.

That incentive structure doesn't sound like it will help you much. Would make you clean 2 more times a month for only $50 extra.
