Looking to get my first credit card

Any suggestions on a good option or what I should be looking for?
I'll be graduating in May if that makes any difference.

In the same boat, should i just go through my bank? Chase in my case.

Go through Chase and get the Amazon card. They have a premium phone line that connects to Americans no matter what card you have. That today, is priceless.

What are you most interested in obtaining? Points, rewards or cash back?
Do you know your FICO score? Do you have any other debts?
Why are you interested in having a credit card?

Go to creditkarma.com and tell us what your score is.
It probably won't be great if this is your first card, but it will give us an idea of where you are.

I don't know if I actually have any credit. I'd be using the credit card to help build up my credit.

You don't have to get a credit card in order to build up credit. Of course, it helps, but it's not totally necessary.
An installment loan could do the trick since it will be reported to the credit bureaus.

When I graduate, I'll start paying off student loans, is that the same thing? I really only plan on using the credit card for gas and paying it off each month. I want to be able to buy a car relatively soon. My old truck has done its job but it's getting close to the end.

I'd stick with Chase whatever it is. I have one from barclays, chase, citi, a local bank, and usaa. I only use the citi and chase cards though. Go on gethuman.com to get the premium line so you can talk to Americans if you have to call in. They will help you with any card even though they market that line to their higher end cards. After talking to people that can't speak English for over a decade now, talking to Americans is a God send. I use that Chase card just for that reason. They employ Americans and if I ever have an issue (not often) I can handle it in one phone call.

Tell me more about this amAzon card please

Amex gives the best rewards for whatever you want.
Capital One gives the best Visa and MasterCard reward card (venture).
Getting approved for these is different than saying they are the best. Go to creditkarma and come back with a report. If you are trying to build your credit, that will be a great tool to help you along the way.
Anyone throwing out random suggestions is doing no good. Chase used to have great rewards, but they have cut them a lot. The convenience is nice if you bank with Chase, but otherwise, they are generally inferior.

I did the creditkarma thing. How reliable is it? It says my score is 652.

Amazon card gets you;
3 points in amazon
2 points On gas and restaurants
1 point on everything else.
Everyone is different. I shop a lot on amazon so it's good for me. I want an amex card bc I hear the service is awesome but like a moron I got 5 cards within 6 months. I don't need anymore right now. Will be buying a house in 2 years and don't want any inquiries.
I pay off every month too.

I've been looking at the Amazon card. I think I may try to apply for this one. Thanks for the help, the rewards seem cool and no annual fee.

I think most people can get this one too fwiw. I don't travel much so I didn't need a travel one. I think points expire after 3 years so if it's something you want to build points up for 20 years or something like that you can't do it.
I've had it since January and have built over 25,000 points($250) So after 3 full years I'll have a pretty good amount to "buy" something pretty nice with my points.
Just make sure you pay everything off in full. The rewards of a card don't mean jack if you're paying interest or late. Across the board a late charge is probably bt 25 and 40 bucks.

I use Discover and have been very happy with their Cash Back Program and their customer service.
They roll catagories every quarter that give 5% back and you get 1% on everything else.

Generally speaking, offers received through the mail usually aren't the absolute best offer a credit card company can offer.

It's reliable, but it's not your true FICO score. MyFICO is the closest that you can get to obtaining your "true" FICO score on your own.
Based upon your score, I'd be surprised if you get approved for an Amazon credit card, but even if you do, expect your interest rate to be considerably higher than most.
