I have a 97 Acura CL. I have owned it for forever but can't honestly say it isn't anything more than a piece of junk. I haven't used it in at least 4 months, so the battery was dead when I tried the ignition. When I popped the hood, I noted that a sizeable mammal had been inhabiting the underside, because grass and fecal matter lined the inside and covered the top of the battery. A number of cables had visible copper showing as well.

I want to get rid of this vehicle because I've been paying auto insurance I haven't been using. The only thing stopping me is that the last time I really used the vehicle was when I was moving jobs, which I'm looking to do now too (another long story).

Right now I'm looking for another job, my current company refuses to promote me despite proper signatures provided two years ago. I use my company's 2015 F-150 for casual use as well. I'd be looking to buy it when I leave as well, since my fiance (wife in April) also needs a new vehicle (her '96 F-150 hits 200K before the end of the month).

TL;DR: What do you do with a car that is a piece of junk, but you can't bring yourself to sell it?

Donate it. It's worth 150 bucks as scrap, and you will pay almost that much to tow it there.

If you donate it, it gets picked up and you write it off.

donate it. My step dad donated a f150 with a bad transmission and I'm pretty sure them gave him a donation certificate worth $1,000. Like others said it is too much head ache to tow it away or try to sell it for parts.
