That must be how he is able to sell without having a license. If he isn't getting paid then he must not be "selling" and therefore nothing illegal in the eyes of the Department of Ins.

So let me get this straight.. He is working for free? Will he get the money he would have gotten with a license, if he ever passes the test? If he is working for free right now, what the frick is wrong with him? You sure you want to invest in someone that damn stupid?

I am confused. If he doesn't have a license, then what is he selling?

There's a very fine line between a referral and soliciting. I'd bet the farm that line is crossed frequently.

Maybe I worded it incorrectly.

He "works" under some other guy who has the license. Basically does all of the work for the guy to get paid. He cant get paid for anything until he passes that exam.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Thats how they do it. I would not be doing anything until I would pass the exam. All those commissions just go to someone else and by the time he passes he will probably have to start cold calling.

I work in a building with them and let me tell you, any moron with a pulse is recruited to sell their crap

This. I was recruited by a 3 diff people. After meeting with one of them, I turned them down due to overall shadiness and the fact that since I'd been approached by 3 people already, the market must already be getting saturated.

I have an accounting degree and background in finance so I didn't think too much of it at the time. Months later, I knew I made the right call because they were trying to recruit a girl I know who is borderline retarded, no finance background at all and if not for lucky breaks in her life, she'd have easily filed for bankruptcy herself. The fact that they would send her out to analyze people's finances and make recommendations is beyond scary to me.

That's a shame, I bet he is the type of guy who would do anything for anyone.. A good ole guy. That's what makes these companies so pathetic. What they do isn't illegal, but the tactics they are basically taking complete advantage of people.

Just like that Team National crap. Had an old "buddy" call me up a few years ago that I hadn't spoken with for over 5 years. He calls and then immediately plays a recording about making lots of money and then brings on another old school friend on the phone to talk about it more. They kept wanting to make their 30 min pitch to me and my wife one afternoon. Told them to run by my office if they wanted to pitch anything. Well a 30 min pitch turned into 4hrs! When they called the next day and I told them we were not interested they starting being extra pushy to come make the presentation to both me and my wife. I just told them I am very well capable of relaying what they said and that my home time is not going to be taken up by this bullshite.

The end result when looking at the 2 guys making the pitch, I just knew it was crock because there was no way these 2 idiots found this fountain of endless money, lol. They also were telling me to close my insurance office down because I would make so much money doing that crap

no, he will get to go along with all the people he recruits once he has his license and sell to their close friends and family before they can get their license... and so on and so forth. see how it works?

Yeah I get how it works, but I wasn't sure if he was "staying in the game" to establish himself until he gets his license, but if you need a license to sell and he was selling without one, couldn't that come back on the company if they paid a guy for sells he made without a license.. when he got his license.. Does that make sense?

That's what they want you to do... Introduce them to everybody you know so they can make sales while pretending that you're making money off of it. Primerica is legit life insurance and investments, but the way they market it is ridiculous. Instead of making actual sales, you're supposed to "recruit" people to "sell" insurance part time. I'm sorry, but I don't feel very comfortable buying insurance from a teacher who's doing it for summer money. It's definitely not a full time job. If you can pass your test, go with another company.

First post, but this topic gets me going. I agree, the "product" is reasonable; however, the marketing is shady at best. I know friends with very limited education who take their friends and family's money as their "financial advisor"...only to find out the market is saturated and struggle to make a dime. They then stop doing it and their friends and family's money goes to the guy that recruited them. This is what they tell you that if you "stick it out" you can make money.

People who believe that making money this way are freaking joke.
