Considering I make too much for an Ira and the company I work for does not match my 401k. Would it be wise for me to just Max out my 401k or should allocate some of that money to a traditional non tax sheltered account?

With the limited information you gave, max out the 401k. Do you have kids or a health savings account?

do you have the option to invest in a Roth within your 401k? Perhaps consider maxing the 401k especially if it offers a Roth option.
