How do I sell an old truck?

Here's the story. Son getting ready to go to college. Wife got a new vehicle, son gets wife's old vehicle. Now I'm left with the sons old pick up.
The main reason for selling is to get it off of my insurance.
I've got a contractor that will buy it.
What paperwork do I need to do to make sure the truck is out of my name and no longer my legal responsibility?
TIA

Go see a notary and change it over. Bring license, title registration. I think that's about it.
It used to be $10 to pay notary, can`t be more than $20 now.
Tell insurance afterwards or tell them now and get it off your insurance. Call DMV, not sure if you still have to turn in plates or not. I think you do. If so, bring to DMV.

Speaking from experience.
Cancel insurance and turn in plates. That will allow you to sell it outright and not have any problems down the road. Local notary can do a bill of sale and title swap.
DO NOT let anyone walk out without making sure that your end of the deal is complete. (Plate turned in and all paperwork official)
ETA: I sold a car a few years ago to a guy and didn't turn the plate in. The "gentleman" proceeded to evade all legal routes and I got burned for the plate because the paperwork was never fully completed on my end. Owed LA a pretty penny for that even with a bill of sale.

I hear you can now cancel your license plate online. That is huge.

As said make sure to turn in plates and see a notary.
Do not let anyone take it with the plate and just with you signing the back of the title. If they don't finish putting it in their name you can be held responsible.
