Some of you read way too frickin much into a post. How do people who aren't writing a 50k check paying for swimming pools? Seems as though HELOC is the answer..,.
Apparently my 40k millionaire comment struck the nerves of some 40k millionaires.
Sounds like a condescending post targeting the perceived 40k millionairs (It's not what you make... it's what you fake), .......v/s you making 40K and really wanting to know how to finance a 50K pool (Which is stupid also), that's why.

Yes, they finance them

2016 Rolls Royce Lease For $30,000 down $1,795/month....not quite the beacon of wealth is it?
Literally anyone who makes $150,000 a year could buy that rolls royce,
About 2.5% of people make over 150k. Its still fairly rare territory

I will say that the friends that I have had since highschool that had their parents buy them vehicles have all done well.
One of the things I've been telling my liberal friends is that the whole idea of presidential candidates releasing tax returns is truly idiotic, as tax returns in no way show wealth.
In addition, wealth is not always closely related to income, one reason is because all of us have different starting points. A 25 year old with no debt, a new car as a gift, and a down payment as a gift, is going to look much wealthier than a 25 year old with a car note, no house, and little savings because they are trying to pay off Sallie Mae.
As to the OP, some people use wealth and gifts to pay for pools, and some people just get in debt up to their eyeballs.

$1795/mo? Thats elite?
No. That's stupid to pay for an automobile.

1) Family Money. A lot of people inherit money or is just straight given money by their parents. A lot of my friends make about 20-50k but have a nice fund waiting for them once their parents passes.
2) Loans.
2) Loans.

You obviously don't work work in software development, program or product management. $150K is pretty standard. Entry level SDET are making $130K.

Precisely. a complete waste of money. It's exactly why Pro athletes are broke after spending millions on cars, jewelry, and taking care of the homies back in the hood.

Not in the majority of the country.

Silicon Valley, Seattle where I'm based out of, Austin, the list goes on and on for engineers.

Of course, I have seen you post it before. Your post comes off as that salary is the norm across the industry and it isn't. In high tech, high cost of living areas, that is certainly normal

What "area" are you specifically referring to? Your vagueness shows little clarity.
Posted on 8/1/16 at 12:26 pm to BehindtheWoodshed
I just hop the fence at the nearest best western. Then open the gate for the family

I think it's the definition of some people trying too hard to sound smart.....

So, you don't see those type of salaries in KY

We're simply having a palaver on the critical thinking ways of the $40K a year millionaire.
