I switched to Shelter about ten years ago. They had cheaper rates than progressive at the time. Still cheap for me, after Katrina I had an adjuster at the house two days after the storm hit.

They replaced boats and camps during Katrina with no issues. I am sold on them for life unless their rates climb astronomically which they haven't yet....

Fortunately, my father-in-law got us into USAA. We have them for both home and auto. Great rates and great service.

Progressive may have good rates, but they will screw you for claims.

I just fought them and will never use again. I have never been lied to blatantly by a company like I was by Progressive.

PS - Auto claim, no m,y fault, they screwed me AND I AM A CUSTOMER.....was a customer.

On a side note. I been with State Farm a long time. I had some boats riding with them too. I canceled one. Well they sent me a bill on the one I cannceled for a little over $300. WTF? I called my agent. He said it was a short canncelation term fee. WHAT? Anyway, he took care of it due to the fact I had sold the boat. It did piss me off to no end though. Guess he looked up that my homeonwers is coming up at then end of Oct which I pay up front every year. A couple grand in there pocket just sucks.

I also have Shelter. They are by far the best company I have seen/been around. I would look into them at least.
