I'm saying the 4% rule is a safeguard against "running out of money" and/or try to preserve the corpus of the savings.

5% is the "real" number for cash/bond/cash equivalents over a 20-year period, unless your intention is to preserve the corpus.

I was not making any evaluation of "how much" $500k was in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks, I didn't even know it existed. The only thing we knew about was the able account. I will start a new thread one day, but if I can leave a house in a trust that would be awesome.
