Anyone on here began a new career mid-30's at the Edward Jones/Merrill Lynch's of the world?

I've read about the perils of the business and first few rough years that you have to endure to become successful. Wanted some perspective from those out there with some stories to tell.

Jones is tough because they insist on the "knock on doors" model that to me is 25 years outdated.

Not to mention, online brokerage firms are the wave of the future. There's a stigma these days with FA's, especially post 2008 recession.

Got a friend that just got on with Jones. Great opportunity and shouldn't really be affected by the internet brokerages referenced above. The vast majority of clients depend on that FA for their counsel and wouldn't be going solo anyways.

I've been getting blown up with Linkedin emails from some UBS recruiter about their program about to report him for spam
