Just bought one and some parts of the screen move faster than others. I don't know how else to explain it, do all LCD tvs have this problem?

What is the best type of tv to get?
Plasma, old glass type?

what's the refresh rate of the one you bought? LCD's are now available from 60hz to 960hz.

you bought the blurry one...120's and 240's are better. Plasma is probably the best but they are dying because they're energy hogs and have a burn-in problem (although that has improved).

Recently did a good bit of research on the subject. As said by ForeLSU, 60Hz is a blurry, low end LCD. The jump to 120Hz is the most significant jump in the spectrum and most people will not notice a major difference between a 120 and 240. Anything above 240 is still pretty much in "beta" right now and will cost an arm and a leg.

I am partial to Samsung TV's. My dad has had a 120Hz 1080p Sony Bravia, and he was happy for about 3 years with it, now he wants my TV.

I don't think Plasma's will go away completely b/c picture enthusiasts like them better, and they are much better for video gaming. The black colors on a Plasma are much sharper. But yes, they are getting harder to find, where as LCD and LED sets are everywhere.

Not true with models that came out the past few years. My 55" plasma took as much power as my neighbors 55" LED. We tested to compare using KW usage monitors.

60hz will be somewhat blurry during fast moving scenes and sports compared to 120hz.

not sure what models, but according to the samsung website a plasma will use about 60% more juice than a comparable LED.

I just upgraded recently from 50" sony lcd to 55" panasonic plasma. Colors and picture on the panasonic are light years better. My mom has a samsung lcd, panasonic plasma smokes it as well but thats just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, samsung and sony are both excellent tv's but plasma is the way to go if you want the best of the best.

If you do a little research you will find that the best tv period a few years back was pioneer elite, well they no longer make tv's and sold some of their technology to panasonic which you will find in the gt and vt models. I hear sharp is up and coming and could challenge soon but right now for plasma panasonic is king, sony and samsung are king for lcd/led.

If you really want to set yourself back, you could always get a runko hd projector which is the ultimate.....
