I'm looking to create a will online or using software. What are the best softwares/websites and which should I avoid?

LegalZoom

Disclaimer -- I have no idea. I just hear the commercials.

How sophisticated of a will do you need? In other words, do you have lots of assets, want to set up trusts for children, or protect assets?

If so, you really should consider seeing an attorney about your will.

If, on the other hand, you only want a generic will that does not do much in terms of allocating specific assets or other inheritance planning issues, then LegalZoom would probably be all you need.

Be careful unless you are young and don't have a lot of assets.

Like the other commenters, I would like to ask a question.

What do you need a will for? Objectives?

You can find a lawyer to do one for about $250, maybe cheaper. I think legal zoom is going to be about $50. You can get a notary to sign it for you. But frankly, this is something you should do right the first time.

I'm also needing to get this done...

I'm married with one child. Would prefer to go the easy legal zoom route, but i'm not sure that will suffice. We own a couple investment properties, but other than that, pretty normal I guess financially. If i'm just wanting to leave all assets to my wife and child do I need to go the lawyer route? Also, is it important to setup a trust.

Sorry...I'm dumb.

I wonder if OP means a living will... Case in point, my friend and his wife did not have living wills. She suffered a traumatic brain injury by falling down from the attic ladder. He did everything possible to keep her alive, mostly due to the family insisting. He finally gave up after over a year because he knew she would not want to live in a vegetative state. Now the family hates him because of the decision he had to make.

I would rather just die intestate than create a will that may - if done incorrectly - cause my legatees to fight it out in court.

Assuming my estate has any assets.

Any solo lawyer can do a basic will for less than $500.
