It has begun. Good luck to anyone impacted by this. Tough times in OKC with chk doing a layoff last month and Devon cutting 20% today.

were layoffs made across the board or just in certain departments?

i'm afraid to ask my friends if they survived.

eta: looks like about 100 management level people were let go yesterday and about 600 lower level people will be gone today.

Yeah, that's exactly correct. The massacre is happening right now. I've already heard about 6 old coworkers get axed today. My boss worked there for over 10 years. She knows a ton of people that got cut.

Devon picked a terrible time to buy those big blocks of assets in Wyoming and the Felix deal. That huge tower in Oklahoma isn't looking like such a good investment these days.

My old neighbor is an axe man in the OG industry. I'll have to catch up and see if he's on the Devon project.
