I have been offered to purchase 70% of a Boutique. The deal itself looks good, but of course I have zero experience in the field.

The deal itself is solid. The numbers all make sense.

My question is for those who may be in this industry. Would the normal business rules apply, or will experience in the industry trump knowing how to run day to day operations of any business. The current owner will still be involved, just not as heavily.

Yes. Our family is part of what I would describe as a "holding company." Have equity in a few grocery stores, convenient stores, two hotels, and a small amount of restaurants. A management team is established, but no one has ever had experience on the clothing side.
