Seeing a couple of videos floating around where dealers are saying that price decreases (back to pre-COVID) are coming. Any idea on what this would to the used market? Would we see less vehicles hitting the market because people can't get as much for theirs? Are would we see more used inventory because new is more affordable?

People are so upside down on vehicles right now because dealers raped them during Covid that it is even harder to trade out of them.

I'm noticing that. I guess my question is, is used inventory going to dry up because folks wont be able to sell the ones that they're upside down on?

Ultimately, do I buy now or wait a few months? I can make arguments for both ways.

The used market has been in a downward trend.. I’d be surprised if it gets back to pre-Covid levels but I would expect the downward trend to continue some.

Sweet. Appreciate that!

Hearing dealers are sending more trade ins to auction to get ahead of what's coming id what prompted all of this. Might try to ride it out till summer.

I did really well right after covid and got premium money on my trades so it balanced out my new purchases.

This is the problem. Most can’t afford to sell them at this point and take the loss. Seeing the same thing with overpriced used boats now as well. People asking way too much because that’s what they owe.

No bud, I’m not paying $70-$80k for your 3 year old bass boat because you were an idiot.

Price of new trucks seem to be coming down some but so has the trade in value of my trade.

2024 Silverado’s are advertised at 7k off now. Ford dealers still have a lot of 2023’s and only advertising 5k off wtf?

I think I’m going to wait until the end of the year and see how prices are trending

I would wait until tax return season is over

I just spent 6 months looking for the wife.

We bought a used 2020 highlander.

Prices are definitely falling from 3-4 months ago. Models like the Highlander with a shitload of units out there are better than minivans we looked at where there was a much smaller unit volume.

There is usually a bump in prices around taX season.

I'm not sure where you live but we live outside LC. Searching for vehicles outside the 250 mile range got me away from the Gulf coast. Prices were way less shopping the Dallas and Austin market. Mississippi as well. Thousands off in some cases.

Dealers will deliver for a small fee or will meet you within a certain radius for free. Dealer I just used had a 120 mile free delivery radius.

I've purchased two vehicles from Longview and Palestine Texas for like $250 cash for the drivers. Saved a fortune.

If you have financing already you just have to email the dealer a drivers license and your dealer funding request from the bank and they can do the rest. When you meet them sign the paperwork and bring a certified check from you bank for a down-payment and drive away.

I am holding off, too. I had the itch on my last oil change and let them value my 2021 gmc. They were stingy. Trucks have been ridiculously priced for a while now.

If the price of new trucks goes down (I’m guessing this has something to do with the new Chinese ones) then used cars will go down too as people will start to buy new cars more and less people will buy used cars. I hope this happens.

I’ve been contemplating this as well. I don’t travel 30k miles a year anymore so can afford a truck and the fuel.

My problem is I’m coming out of my second ES350 so I’m not used to any maintenance costs. After reading the OT it sounds like you’re constantly dealing with issues with FORD/Chevy/GMC/Ram….or shite gas mileage with a Tundra.
