Best non chase Slate Balance Transfer Card
I posted in the big thread, but don't want it to get lost in the shuffle.

I'm looking to find the best card out there for a transfer.

Most people have suggested Chase Slate, but the terms state:

"We will not process any balance transfer requests that are from any other account or loan that we (Chase Bank USA, N.A.) or any of our affiliates issued."

So that is out for me, since I already own the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

I'm looking to transfer my balance for next month to give myself a couple months to pay it off instead of getting hit with a decently high APR. ( I have no interest accrued yet, but had to make a decently large purchase) It would hopefully be a 1 time thing.

I've looked at the BankAmericard Credit Card. 0 % APR for 18 billing cycles on transfers made in the first 60 days, as well as no annual fees. 3% fee or $10 whichever is greater after that for transfers.

I wouldn't mind a card that would be more practical for regular use if need be, but this was the best I saw for transfers.

Anyone ever used this one? Or are there others out there I should be considering?

To be clear, the balance you want to transfer is currently on your CSR?

I'd probably go Citi Double Cash. 0% for 18 months, 3% transfer fee. Plus, it's just a solid card.

Yeah if you're looking for the longest time to pay it off...citi simplicity is 21month interest free with a 3% transfer fee.

If you're looking to avoid a transfer fee all together Barclaycard Ring Master card is 0% transfer fee and 0% APR for 15 months.

ETA: CSR is better as an everyday card than these I've listed, so you'd most likely only use these for the balance transfer. So wouldn't worry so much looking into rewards/cash back on them. Just pick whichever one A. Saves you money on transfer fee or B. Gives you the most time to pay it off.

Citi was a good transfer card back in the gap when I needed it. Would recommend.

I'm not so worried about the transfer fee too much. 3% isn't bad. Would just appreciate the length of time to pay it off so there is less pressure, and may give me a chance to save some extra money on the side while doing so.

Citi double cash might be more enticing than simplicity with the cash back if I need to use it here and there given 0 APR for so long.

Appreciate the suggestions.

eta: Might need to re-read the double cash to see whether or not there is 0% APR on purchases also. If there is an initial APR on purchases, I'll likely just go simplicity.

If you have USAA, check out their signature visa card. There's a promotion for no balance transfer fee till mid June.

Wouldn't you just use your CSR for everyday use?

Is spending an unnecessary 3% on transfer free worth the small amount of "cash back" you'll get?

I'd go with one of the 0% transfer fee cards.

If it was 0% APR on the purchases with double cash, then it be worth it for the extra time to pay it off interest free.

But, the 0% APR for double cash looks like it only applies to transfers.

21 months seems worth it for a 3% fee, if I ever need to do some spending during that time period without the concern to pay it back that month.

Citi Simplicity. 21 months interest free on purchases and transfers.

Besides that though, it's nothing special.

0% on purchases? Why do I now have the feeling that you are about to make some really bad decisions?

The Citi Double Cash card is NOT 0% on purchases.

That's not what he asked. Had I known he was looking to spike a credit card bill when he already has a balance he needs to transfer, I probably wouldn't have posted

I'm not looking to spike a bill lol. I was just curious about having one card that was more solid than the other for any other practical purposes since I would just be holding onto it after the transfer. I do appreciate the advice.
