Applying for EIN: Partnership or LLC

Hope you guys can help with this.
Some friends are starting a business. One lives in LA. The other two in TN. They want to set it up as a LLP.
People in TN are registering business. To get an EIN, it's asks whether it will be a LLC or Partnership. They have been online with the IRS for a while now.
If setting it up as a LLP, would "Partnership" be the choice?

They got in touch with the IRS, finally.
It was partnership. Which they thought it was from the beginning.
