To answer OP.
I have used the service on several occasions. My daughter and I rented two rooms in a house in Greenbay when LSU played there when hotels were out of their minds with rates. The home owner remained in the house during our stay as an example. I usually look for airbnb if hotel rooms are scarce. As an investment vehicle I would say do your research. I seem to recall reading where New York was looking to eliminate it some time ago. No idea if they did. Also, a beach house has a built in market. Not sure about a house just anywhere. If it was regulated away what would you do then? Just something to research. Good luck.
