Any CFAs?

What was the process like? I know I'll never do it but just curious as I start a job search soon. Saw some jobs requiring you to be in the process of squiring it. Dude was telling me recently that it's not really worth it unless you went to a top business school. Partially because the experience required for the CFA is not easy to get

The process is what you make it. I've seen people pass each level on the first try and get the charter within 18 months. I've seen others take several years. I don't agree with what you heard about having CFA and MBA. CFA is a focused curriculum on investment management. MBA covers all aspects of business but doesn't get into the detail of finance like the CFA. The required experience stretches across several industries. You can work in an accounting firm handling corporate finance work and still qualify for the charter.

Hmm, I thought it was 48 months.
What I do now almost certiainly wouldn't qualify. IMy job title is financial analyst but technically I don't believe it's close to what people usually think of financial analysts. Hell, I'm doing fin tech development right now so if anything, more of a business analyst in my current position.
What I really want to do is take some of those business analyst skills and apply them to actual investment management.
Yeah, I didn't mean MBA, just business school. I am seeing pretty often putting their undergrad business school as their education instead of their university

I realize my 18 months comment was a bit misleading. You do need 4 years of work experience on top of passing all 3 levels. The passing of all levels can be done in a minimum of 18 months. CFA Institute provides an assessment of your work to give you an idea if your work experience qualifies.
