401k rollover questions

I have a 401k from a previous employer that I would like to do something with instead of just getting charged fees. It is with principle at the moment, around 20k.
I did some searching and it seems like rolling it into an IRA with vanguard is the popular option. Is this still the case?
If I do roll it over, how much managing will I have to do? I really don't know a lot about investing and what funds etc to pick.
New 401k is with fidelity if that matters?
Looking for a no hassle option if one exists.

Either is fine. They're both sound and highly rated companies. People just have preferences. Since you now have an account with Fidelity and you're something of a novice investor, you *might* find it easier to have both accounts with Fidelity. Follow your comfort level.
Only word of advice that I have: stay with target date funds or index funds/ETFs until you learn more about investing.
