You've got 70 offensive plays to distribute, who do you give them to?

I say... Run 45 and Pass 25

LF - 22
DW - 10
Guice/Brossette/Jackson - 10
FB - 3

Dupre - 8
Dural/Quinn/Chark/Johnson/Jackson - 12
RB's/TE's - 5

The primary receiver could change on a game by game basis but one of them should be getting 8-10 and we spread the other 15-18 to the guys that are not getting double coverage. Teams that have this many weapons usually try to run more offensive plays. MSU averaged 80 last year. Slowing a game down doesn't always make sense for every team. A great coach utilizes his talent in the best way possible and that should be a dynamic scenario. Miles is more of a..."static thinker"

Les will give 35 plays to LF, 10 to DW, 5 to Guice, 5 to Brossette, 10 to QB runs and 5 passes

QB runs

frick...I knew I missed something. We know that he won't throw 25/game so I'd expect a few less there and a few less to DW. You are absolutely right though...we definately need ~5-8 runs from the QB position. Even more reason that we should target 75 plays this year. When will we stop trying to prove that we can run against 9 in the box? I've come to appreciate Les for the man that he is but damn that MFer is stubborn. He could be so much better and I hate to think it maybe comes down to pride. Has the game of football changed over the past 30, 20, 10, 5 years? Why wouldn't every coach get that? Even our former coach saw that and did something that I would have never expected. His decision to hire Lane may be one of the smartest coaching moves that he's ever made. Just the fact that he was willing to change...

We also can't be rigid. Got to adapt to what the defense is doing. Attack their weakness.

Running the football against 9 in the box wasn't Les being stubborn, it was the inability to throw the football that gave the coaches no choice but to run. The passing game was non existent last year except for some deep throws here and there. I've said it before and I'll say it again that winning 8 games was an accomplishment considering how one dimensional this team was.

Agreed. When was that last time you were watching a game and said..."damn...I didn't see that coming"? Les used to do that back in the early days. Offenses have become more dynamic and Les has become more conservative.

Uh, you know that I meant we have to adapt to our opponent's defense, right ?
