OP asked for top 5 lsu linebackers, not top 5 linebackers to play against lsu.

Realistically they were all MLBs but in college you could've had Faulk in the middle flanked by James and Turner that would've been sick. I don't think they ever shared the field together sadly.

Yes he and brooks are the 2 best I also included Sancho to me he's the most underrated lb we ever had. Dude would get about 8 sacks a year back when teams threw maybe 20 passes a game plus if you watch our classic games he was in on almost every tackle.

Yea he got in there but like you said he didn't start. Our 3 starting lbs were Lawrence James and Faulk. Turner and James were pretty good pass rushers too I wonder why Saban didn't use the 3-4 with Faulk James Lawrence and Turner. Always wondered about that.

We also had some pretty large ends with Kendrick allen (6-6 over 300lbs) and Jarvis green who played 3-4 end in the NFL. It had to be a secondary issue maybe we didn't have a box safety. Always bugged me.

Bruh bradie james has the production to be listed with any lsu lb.

He has 3 straight years of at least 100 tackles.
His senior season he had 3 games with at least 18 tackles.

Bradie James Senior season production
Set school record with 154 tackles
Had 18 tackles in 3 games.
Had double digit tackles in 8 games.

154 tackles
9.5 tfl
4.5 sacks
18 qb hurries
1 int
1 ff
2 pd

His senior season production is up there with any lsu lb.

God I felt bad for James that year. Faulk left him alone to do everything on that d.

I think its that there used to be and still sort of is this thinking that freshman arent ready to start at lb in the sec. You know its rare as hell to see freshman lbs start or get serious playing time in the sec.

Yea you're right and back then there wasn't a mass exodus with jrs every year like now. You could redshirt a lot more back then.
