Everyone who bashes Harris seems to overlook the fact that Cam probably had more impact than Miles had on the decision to start him in every game. The stat quoted in another thread about all the qbs who played under Cam for two years consecutively confirms that the guy may know a little about a player's potential.

I've got a potential no flusher coming up, doesn't mean it's gonna happen in reality though

I doubt anyone till I see what they can do. I'm excited about the new DC, but it's a wait and see, with his results....the last 2 years at QB, and Franks recruitment has left Cam suspect. Let's let it play out, see which QB he closes with, and how they perform, but he's got to improve the passing game to compete for the SEC West, so it's on him, and Miles to oversee it all.

Correct me if I'm wrong but LSU just competed for the sec championship up until the final 2 weeks of the season. Just a little improvement combined with all the experience coming back should push LSU over the top. Should being the key word.

If Jennings had not been arrested then he would have started every game and the season would have been dismal.

No, I doubt his boss.

I doubt him based on the product I have seen on the field for 2 straight years now. Our offensive scheme is so elementary that even if BH develops we will still likely have games we are shut down in.

Cam runs a "pro style" offense, right? That's his philosophy, speciality, ok.

Harris and most of the Qb's LSU recruits with few exceptions, have run a "spread" or "read option" offense in High School, and been of course, very successful doing so.

So Cam has to either develop these "spread" Qb's into "pro style" or implement the type of offense these Qb's excel at and are comfortable with, or do a combination of both.

Or recruit pro style Qb's that have some mobility if they want to have a chance to beat Bama who is now DLine U.

The last time Bama lost to a team running a "pro style" offense, that loss was helped by their kicker missing what 4-5 field goals, and by a goal line takeaway by Eric Reid.

No team running a pro style offense has come close to beating Bama since.

Arkansas missed an xp and lost by 1 to bama last season

That was close

But I do get your point. Pro style offenses don't score much on them.. That game was 14-13

Doubt him? Sure. Why not.

Cam really hasn't done anything while being here to vastly improve our offense. But then again, he's also in a tug-of-war with CLM for play calling.

I don't bash Harris at all, his talent, what made him a prized recruit is his success with running a "read option" offense, and that's not the style Cam and Miles are allowing him to do.

It is the style of offense, read option, or similar spread, that has had the most success beating Alabama, but Miles is convinced that even though everyone knows what LSU's offense will do, and even though LSU will line up against an opponent(s) who have as much talent as they do, that if the "execution" is perfect that will overcome LSU's offensive predictablity, and similar talent level of the opposing defense.

Of course this belief that "execution" will overcome predictability, and similar talent hasn't worked yet, but apparently he somehow still clings to the belief it will.

No, they don't.
The thing is LSU's offense under Qb J.Jefferson did have some "option read" elements, that was some folks reasoning why Miles stuck with him in the SEC championship, and the NC debacle, but you have to have a QB that is comfortable with it, excels at it, and frankly, good at making those quick decisions under pressure and Jefferson just wasn't.

Are you kidding me. The first week of November the team folded up. You can say they weren't out of it by the numbers but you sure as heck can't say they were competing for the SEC Championship on the field once the month of November rolled around.

We all want(ed) him to succeed but the expectations we had for him were far higher than his production. I don't think that is bashing him at all.

good lord, Hollow, you're such a blind homer.

Our schedule was soft until November. When we played the good teams, we got dominated. A "little" improvement won't cut it.

After the fashion of the 3 game losing streak, I doubt everybody involved (Miles, Cam, Grimes).

You can't hide an unexperienced QB for the first 7 games and then expect him to save the day when the team's back is against the wall. I saw the writing on the wall early. Everybody was mesmerized by Fournette running for 200+ yds a game...while Harris completed 50% of his passes on about 14-17 passes a game.
