I saw some of this, but he wasn't born gunshy. You can't keep a passrush honest w/o a run game. Also in many instances he was forced back due to inside pressure and pocket collapse.
Without afore mentioned balance, 182 pass ypg was respectable compared to 122 rush ypg (Ingram ran for 128ypg by himself).

if you take out sack yardage per game in our rush yards per game stat, our running game wasnt as bad as noticed. Scott averaged 4.7 ypc and Williams 5.3 ypc, with Shep averaging 6.2. JJ averaged 1.5 ypc.

With this aside, I personally believe the fact that the defense was not afraid of him beating them through the air they could stack the box and not worry about the middle of the field.

If you notice JJ avoided the middle of the field the majority of the season, as a defense you notice this on tape and can adjust to guard the sidelines and stop the run.

I am ONLY talking about JJ and Flynn. That's it. No one else.

HotCarl,

yes to your convience...but you cant have a hypothesis with only two fricking varibles...As I figured...trying to have your cake and eat it too...

you cant say that JJ will progress b/c of others!!! and thats what your trying to imply with your "so-called" evidence (misleading numbers) They are two different people with two different mind sets....Flynn's is the type of mind set we need as a quarterback hence, field general, clutch, takes risk, isnt scared of failure, doesnt sit on the fricking ground when he gets hit hard, etc..etc...etc..

JJ is petrified to be on that field...Maybe a tiny bit of that will go away with age and he can show some signs of brilliance b/c of his athletic ability...but more often then not and when we really need him to make a play he is going to fold!!!

Pressure, some can handle it some cant...its the million dollar question... Thats why we have old sayings such as "if you cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen...Ill take a QB that can handle pressure all day long with less athletic ability (hence Flynn over JJ) now can you process that information through that little head of yours?

Its called a bump and run nickel package and teams did it all year against us...but all anyone does is blame the fricking O-line...I wanna see those frickers trying and block someone (DL) when they have a set goal before the play is ever run...

"no"

That was a happy list of capabilities JJ develops, apparently during spring practice.

Dandy Don wrote when J J was still in high school, at about this time of the year, that he saw JJ as not being ready until his junior year. As we know, the Perilloux story had tentacles, not only putting Jarrett Lee on the field as a freshman but stealing a redshirt year from Jj.

look i don't know what some of you delusions fans expected, but in a lot of games JJ is all we had.we only ran for over 170 yards twice, against auburn and ull. i know alot of you are going to say we couldn't run because of JJ and anybody that knows football, knows that you run to set up the pass. JJ is far from perfect but he is far from our weakest link. Aagainst old miss and mississippi state, we rushed for under 50 yards. I know you'll say he took to may sacks and it that took away from rushing. That's true, however, he doesn't have that many more sacks than Flynn. if you were expecting 300 yards and 3 tds a game with no running game, then hell yeah you'll be mad. Bottom line is, JJ's gonna be our starter for the future so get behind him. you'll make yourself miserable bitchin about it all summer. please

Yes.

Even without any coaching you would expect some improvement. But he has got to be willing to take some risks in order to move the ball. His stats look good, but hell any QB's would rarely taking risks. The things that make JJ's stats look OK are the same things that limit the offense.

JJ has a decent football IQ. He shows flashes of it, the problem is playing it WAY too safely. Its killing the offense.
