Year three under Kelly has always shown the most improvement, data backs it up.

Central Michigan first three years:
4-7, 6-5, and 9-4

Cincinnati first three years:
10-3, 11-3, and 12-0

Notre Dame first three years:
8-5, 8-5, and 12-0

Just some interesting data.

I am confident in the offensive coaching staff, and recruiting for the offense to stay consistently good.

Change the defensive staff, and let them recruit and use our young elite talent we already have.

Toviano, Perkins, Harris, Swinson have shown elite potential on the defensive side off the ball.

Year 3 can be a good one especially with the playoffs expanded to 12.

He will win a championship. It’s just a matter of time. The man needs time to get things together. It’s not easy to win championships.

I saw that clip from Moscona too

LSU will absolutely be in the playoffs next year.

We overachieved in year one, it's just the truth. I actually told a few people my biggest fear about the season is 9 or 10 wins being a "disappointment" amongst our mouth breathing fan base. That being said, the Defense has to be addressed, period. I am waiting to see his response before I pass judgment.

I hope so.

People are gonna complain because our schedule is pretty difficult to start out, and the team has struggled in early big time games of late. However, that schedule helps our case in the 12 team playoff even more, win or lose. SOS is gonna be even more critical for teams trying to get the 9-12 spots.

Kelly is not going anywhere and yes, even with the transfer portal this is a full scale rebuild. He has done a ton more in two seasons than Jimbo Fisher has done in six.

Now if no real progress to contending after year five? He will be on the hot seat in year six and I’ll be calling for a change.

Love this 3 year stat, however lets not start the contract expansion just quite yet.

Why was Toviano's first significant action on the road at Bama in week 10?

I don't think we should count on anything from Harris given he can't stay active.

I think the reason why majority of the LSU fanbase is upset is not because are on track to win 9-10 games. I think it’s mostly due to the fact that the offense is so elite and so good that it feels like wasted shot at a natty. All the defense has to do is be average, not even good to win.

If you would have told me before the season started that Daniels would have these numbers, Nabers and Thomas lead the country in yards and TDs, and Daniels was one of the Heisman favorites, I would have said we would be undefeated.

I picked 9-3 before the season which should be achievable.

9-3 would be a solid year 2 with losses to three top ten teams who are probably just better than LSU right now.

2023 LSU is probably a borderline top 15 team.

I agree. 9-3 is a solid 2nd year considering the rebuild Kelly is facing. However, like mentioned above would you not feel a wasted opportunity with this offense and QB?

When you made that pick of 9-3 did you think the offense would be this good?

That’s what’s the frustrating part about all this.

I hope it's this simple

Harris is likely gone next year. Perkins is the only one you've listed that has flashed "elite" IMO.

There's still pieces I like on defense though: Perk, Whit Weeks, Toviano, Swinson, Shand, Zy, Yaites, kinda sorta Stamps. Holding out hope for Saivion

He is being out recruited defensively by our rivals. That is a more important issue than new coaches

We have a good core of younger, veteran guys for defense next season.

Toviano:
Was impressed with him last week. Highest graded defensive player I think.

Perkins:
Nothing to be said here, obviously an elite player.

Swinson:
He can come back next year, probably our best pash rusher. Reminds me of an early version of Ojulari.

Whit Weeks:
He was very good when we played. 3 TFL in limited time playing.

Denver Harris:
While he might not be on the team, if he can return he is a lockdown type corner. He’s not picked on very often.

I don’t know if this trend will hold true with breaking in a new QB and having to tear down and rebuild the entire defense, players and coaches.

He has been saying year 3 since he got here for a reason. We are all going to be curious to see how he gets this team setup next season for a potential run.

We lose ALOT of talent after this year. and a new QB 2 new WR (most likely) next year could be rough if we don't hit the transfer portal hard
