This is a very sad day for LSU Fans, as Chavis
was the glue that held this team together in all the bad years of CLM Bad or dysfunctional offense an bad QB's. But none are as bad as AJ.
JJ was bad, but AJ much worse. How does a Head Coach justify starting a player who has not improved all year. Why would Chavis want to deal with Les Mile style a day longer. Wish Miles had gone to Michigan like thousands of other LSU Fans, oh wait they didn't want him either.

Speak for yourself. I'm not sad at all and if we wind up with Pendergast I'd say we got a serious upgrade. We had great defenses before Chavis and I guarantee you we will have them after him as well.

Even if you are unhappy, you don't go to a division rival. To me, that shows a lack of respect for LSU. LSU paid him well and he had a lot of leeway. I don't like how he handled his business. Good luck in Aggieland... The grass is always greener.

If Chavis doesn't want to be a Tiger then it's time for him to go!
All the more reason to beat the hell out of the Aggies next season.

Totally correct. Chavis was our best coach, inexcusable to let him leave. They (Alleva and Miles) should have paid and kept him on (letting him go to Texas A&M does not make any sense). Miles has been making serially poor decisions...time to let him and Alleva go

Chavis' stats were pretty legit and I really liked the dude.

LINK

We were 9th in total time of possession this year out of every college football team in the country. I think Chavis did his job.

IMHO

To me, the big issue here isn't so much losing Chavis. It's (a) that something is so wrong in the program that a loyal guy like him would want to leave for a lateral position and (b) I have no faith in Alleva to make the next hire.

Unfortunately, the bigger picture may be worse than losing this one guy.

Couldn't agree more...something pissed him off because he has always been loyal and faithful...personally I think he is tired of covering Miles's arse all the time...not good that he went to a division rival..

Maybe the new guy will know how to stop Saban with under 2 minutes remaining?

This x 2. Chavis prevent cost us the last 2 home games with Bama.

I understand the business part, but to me he showed me has no class. A true coach wouldn't turn his back on his players. I don't blame him for leaving, but it's obvious he didn't prepare his side of the ball and his adjustments were crap. He gave up on the kids that have fought hard for him, and probably came here for him! A coach should always put his family/players first, and if he couldn't do his job he should have left earlier and let someone else try. The kids are the ones who suffered, not us. Enjoy your pay raise. I won't miss 3rd and Chavis , and especially won't miss a man who can turn his back on his kids so easily! Can't wait to beat you on a last second drive next year.

Glad he is gone...too many big game wins slipped away in the final moments because of his schemes...

I remember when LSU hired him many Tennessee fans on this board were happy he was gone because of 3rd and Chavis...they warned us about what would happen and we eventually seen it too many times...

Is he actually gone? The Advocate article I just read made it sound like it's not confirmed yet. When do we get confirmation he's actually an Aggie?

Anyone else feel dirty seeing him getting on a A&M plane?

I don't feel dirty. Thanks and good luck to him. If he doesn't want to work here anymore, hit the door. Get someone who does. I won't blame him for leaving just how he did it. Next guy might be better, might be worse. Situation is what it is, so we might as well move on.

This is simply conjecture. Chavis got screwed at UT when Fulmer got fired. Chavis looked out for himself in this whole matter and looks like shite. He handled this very poorly.

Nope...the aTm will soon learn what UT and LSU fans have learned and been frustrated about consistently over the years...3rd and Chavis...
