How does skenes compare to starting MLB pitchers currently? Is he projected to be one of the best in the league?

Not sure why he’s gonna pitch in minors instead of the pirates because they are almost a aaa team disguised as a mlb team

It’s a business. They will stash him in the minors until May and then bring him up. By doing that they lock him in to the Pirates for one more year on the back end of his contract before he can become a free agent.

Also add that they are probably getting him used to the shortened time between outings.

Skenes may end up throwing more 100+ MPH pitches than anyone is the history of baseball.

he'll probably be on an innings pitch limit for the year also. Not like hes going to to pitch 180+ IP.

My dad and I were talking about last years LSU team recently. Skenes was in a league of his own. It is obvious now watching the current team. While they are good Skenes was a MLB caliber pitcher playing against college caliber players and it showed. His time at LSU was definitely something special to watch.

Honestly watching Holman so far, while he doesn't have the same juice as Skenes, has that same feel of domination in him where he takes over a game. Will be telling with SEC play kicking in tonight.

Fastballs alone is not gonna cut in the bigs, you have to have total control of at least 3 pitches. I think he was close to that at the end of the season. They're just fine tuning the piano, it won't be long.
