MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia left guard Josh Jenkins will miss this season after undergoing surgery on his left knee.

Jenkins was injured in West Virginia's spring game April 29 and had surgery July 5.

Trainer David Kerns said Wednesday that Jenkins' medial collateral ligament healed properly, but surgery was needed to stabilize the knee.

Kerns says Jenkins is eligible for a medical hardship waiver and should return for his senior season in 2012.

Jenkins has 24 career starts. He injured his right knee last season, underwent arthroscopic surgery and missed two games.

I'm sure that by the time our game roles around with WVU they will have the hole filled pretty good. It's not like they are losing him a week before the game and will have to reshuffle the whole offensive line in a week.

This has been known basically since last season. But they finally just came out and said it. It does hurt though. Probably our best lineman

This reminds me of the North Carolina game and we almost blew that at a neatral site, not Morgantown. We better be prepared for a tough test regardless of who straps it on for them.
